그렇다면 과연 신이란 무엇인가?

 

우리는 신을 눈으로 본적도 없고 신이 공평하다는 생각도 들지 않았습니다. 

 

신은 우리가 알기에는 너무나 복잡하고 미스테리한 존재이며 상상 속 허구 같기도 하고 

사실 조금 무섭기도 했으니까요.

 

그런데 점점 나이가 들다 보니, 

 

세상 무서울 것 없이 다 가질 수 있으거라던

자만하고 오만했던 젊은 날은 지나가고

 

어느새 세월 앞에 희끗 해진 머리카락을 보면서

'아 모든 것이 그럴 수도 있겠구나.'

하고 생각하게 되더군요.

 

돌이켜보면 삶은 그야말로 기이한 세계가 아닐 수 없었습니다.

 

세상은 마치 내게 답을 주듯이 툭툭 던지고 지나갔지요.

 

그렇다면 과연,

신은 뭘까요?

 

2000년 역사상 최고의 신학철학가라 불리우는 

"토마스 아퀴나스"는 이렇게 말합니다.

It is you humans who are complicated.
What is God? I have never seen God
with my own eyes
and have never felt that God is fair.
God is too complicated and too mysterious for us to understand,
too fictitious and a little scary.
But as I grew older, the arrogance and arrogance of a young man
who thought he had nothing to fear in the world,
who thought he could have it all, disappeared, and before I knew it,
I was looking at the gray hair in front of me and thinking, "Oh,
everything could be like that."
Looking back, life was a very strange world indeed.
The world passed me by as if it were giving me answers.
So, what is God? Thomas Aquinas,
dubbed the greatest theologian in 2000 years' history, says:
"We don't know the nature of God.
"You don't know what it looks like, you can't see it, you can't touch it,
but look closely at the things that only God can do."
"It's about the actions that are happening outside."
"What's happening outside is something that we can observe."
"Well, then, how can we prove that God is everlasting, everlasting, everlasting, everlasting?"
"Even if he's not visible?"
"But look, the world
is moving."
"Everything is matter. Everything is life."
"Matter and life are things that come and go.
"I can have all these things,
and I can only separate what exists and what doesn't exist?"
God is much simpler
than you think.
Because God is the only whole.
"It's the humans who want to complexize it, divide it up,
say, 'It exists, doesn't exist.'"
"What is God?" That's a better question than, "What is God?"
"What is not God?"
